The Nikkor 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6D AF Zoom Lens is a compact and lightweight wide-angle to portrait zoom lens that is ideal for travel, landscapes, and general family photography... a perfect "all-around" lens. To take full advantage of the features found on Nikon's newer SLR (35mm and Digital), distance information used for 3D Matrix Metering or the 3D Multi-Sensor Balanced Fill-Flash is transmitted from the lens to the camera body for precise flash exposure control and aperture control. The 28-80mm D includes an aperture ring on the barrel (compared to the nikon "g" series) for additional control.
