Product Description
The Digital Concepts 62mm Macro Filter Kit includes four close-up diopters at +1, +2, +4 and +10 magnification, and a durable carrying case. These filters simply screw onto the front of any 62mm lens, and will maintain resolution and picture clarity while magnifying image size. Plus, these filters are double-threaded, which means you can combine them to achieve increased magnification, or you can attach additional optics such as polarizers or skylight filters. These macro filters are ideal for photographing small items and focusing in on details of coins, flowers, jewelry and insects, as well as industrial photos of miniaturized components, medical and dental laboratory work and other scientific photography.SimilarProduct

Good option to save money

Nice product, you don't need to expend 500 dollars to create macro photography. This specific set is not the best one, the final photo tends to be a little white/flat, but in some cases is very interesting.
Magnification shown different from advertised, poor build quality
by .. CHEW Khong Yik (Singapore, Singapore)
I own a D40 with the new 60mm AF-S Micro-Nikkor lens. I take surgical photos and need the high sharpness this lens provides. Frequently, however, I need to shoot extreme close-ups and having a fixed focus lens means I need to physically move in closer to get a magnified view, which is frequently impractical or impossible during surgery. Looking at the product images advertised, I was excited to think that close-ups would now be possible without needing to physically move in too close to the subject.
However, I was sorely dissapointed when I actually bought and tried it.
BUILD QUALITY
The lenses do not come with with any multi-coating, so take care not to scratch it. They do, however, come with dual threading and I am able to attach an additional ring flash adaptor on top of these lenses. However, the threads are coated with black paint that easily peels off. After just a couple of cycles threading the lenses in and out, bare metal is already exposed (see photos above) and makes subsequent attempts to thread in disturbingly gritty. The threads are also surprisingly sharp with serrated outer edges.
I strongly recommend attaching a clear filter to prevent damaging threads on the lens itself. The filter would also prevent any accidental scratches to your lens due to the sharp edges.
The carrying pouch, however, is padded and folds up with velcro strips sealing it, keeping them properly protected during transport.
REAL-WORLD USAGE
+1, +2, +4 and +10 refers to the Diopter, NOT magnification ratio. So what is the magnification? Physically measuring the photos advertised here gives a rough 2.5x magnification, from "no filter" to +10. Unfortunately, I was only able to achieve 1.25X magnification. (See photos - I took this on a tripod to fix the distance to a static object - in this case, the box that the lenses came in)
A +10 diopter lens also means the focusing distance is shortened by a factor of 10. When a +10 diopter lens is used, the maximum focus distance becomes approcimately 4 inches or 10 cm on my lens. The lens would not focus anything beyond 10 cm. At this distance, my SLR lens blocks off any light coming from the pop-up flash itself! Fortunately I use a ring flash so this is ok for me. Make sure you have good external lighting if you intend to use at this distance.
Thinking of taking living insect photo? You can forget about taking small insects or butterflies as you would be forced to move way too close. I can only imagine that you may need a macro lens >150 mm for reasonable usage with the +10 D converter.
Well, there is a silver lining - I now use the pouch to carry my various filters instead of the rigid plastic boxes they come in.
Shipper did great, item is wrong size, my fault

Lesson learned. When you buy a camera wait until you have it before getting the accessrories. The lens on the Canon T2i is 58mm. Several vendors selling the camera recommend accessories and post a 62mm filter for this camera.
Not so great!-defeats the purpose of purchase!

well, we get along with the camera and the extraordinary lens features that we purchased, this lens kit is not quite necessary...
